Rules and Regulations.

Any individual who claims, in earnest, to be of or belonging to the species Homo sapiens may participate in the 2008 Blue Ridge Cup Race Series. That being said, a participant is best defined as one who completes at least, but not limited to, one footrace included on the official Blue Ridge Cup Race Calendar. The official listing of said events will be posted for all to see via print and online versions of Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine. There is, of course, no limit to the number of approved finish lines you may grace with your footsteps between March 1st and December 31st, 2008. The rest is up to you. In the words of Tyler Durden, “You choose your level of involvement.”

As for the “other” stuff, the Blue Ridge Cup Race Series will not permit (or reward in any fashion) any of the following: lying, cheating, and unsportsmanlike conduct. For all other matters, we’d ask that you simply err on the side of decency and cool rationale. We will deal with specific concerns on a case-by-case basis.

Fill out the entry-form. It’s free! You are now entitled to compete for bragging rights and prizes in the 2008 Blue Ridge Cup Race Series.

Browse the 2008 Race Calendar. There you’ll find everything you need to know concerning how many points an event is worth, where it’s at, and when it’s happening.

Plan your Blue Ridge Cup season. Plan to participate in events that squeeze into your schedule, discipline, and level of ability. This will help you set goals for yourself. We do not have to know your strategy and/or which events you plan to participate in.

Go Outside and Play! Between March 1st and December 31st, you may participate in as many official Blue Ridge Cup Races as you wish in order to maximize you points and up your Cup standings. Strategize!

Report your points to the Blue Ridge Cup Director. You’ve earned them! Once you’ve completed an event, send us your results. We’ll keep track of the points you’ve earned and reported throughout the series.

ALL points must be reported before the ball drops on January 1st, 2009. We will not collect your points for you. We are not your mother. You must report your points in order to receive credit.

Points must be verified. We’ll be in touch with race directors throughout the season to verify the race results we’ve received from participants. It’s kind of like an honor system.

Official standings will be posted. Once the points have been reported and verified by their respective race directors, we will post the standings on the Point Standings page. We reserve the right to edit all point submissions to ensure accuracy.

The Blue Ridge Cup Director has the final say on all Cup matters. Can’t we all just get along? We reserve the right to control all things Cup (within reason, of course). That includes changing the Race Calendar and editing points if necessary.

We’ll dish out the goods. When the 2008 Blue Ridge Cup Race Series has run its course, we’ll tabulate the points, distribute the prizes, and declare the winners.

Contact the Blue Ridge Cup Director. Please direct all further questions and comments to chris@blueridgeoutdoors.com. The Blue Ridge Cup Director will act as chief liaison between the participants and all other important persons, deities, and inanimate objects to which the Blue Ridge Cup might be concerned.† ††
