Secret Crag X Announced
The Southeastern Climbers Coalition recently announced that it will be purchasing Yellow Bluff in Alabama. Earlier in the fall, the SCC board announced it would make a high profile crag purchase at the end of 2008, but kept the exact location of that crag a secret, revealing the location at the finale of the Triple Crown Bouldering Series in Chattanooga. Yellow Bluff is famous for hard trad routes and is the home to the first 5.13 ever put up in Alabama. The cliff was closed in the late ‘80s over parking issues and homeowner complaints.
The Yellow Bluff purchase is a continuation of the SCC’s practice of securing climber access to high profile crags by the outright purchase of those crags. After all, if you own it, they can’t kick you off.
