Timber!

This month proposed logging projects in the North River Ranger District of Western Virginia has reached a whopping 1,800 acres. The biggest targets on the chopping block include 315 acres in the Hearthstone Lake area, which is near the 10,109 acre Little River Inventoried Roadless Area, and 566 acres in the Back Draft area of Bath County northwest of Walker Mountain. Back Draft holds several trout stream watersheds and small pockets of old growth trees. Public comments are needed for this area by September 2.
