The Sope Creek unit of Atlanta’s Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is scheduled to get a trail overhaul in 2010. Ten miles of new trail will be built, while some older trails will be decommissioned because of erosion issues. An estimated 1.5-million people hike, run, and bike at Sope Creek every year, making it one of the most popular units of the Chattahoochee River NRA.
