Trail Mix October 2012
Columbus Day has become synonymous with one thing for music lovers in Central Virginia – The Festy Experience.
Now in its third year, The Festy – located on the grounds of Devil’s Backbone Brewery in beautiful Nelson County, Virginia – transcends a simple outdoor music festival. Instead, the Festy offers multiple experiences which, of course, begin with great music and extend to outdoor sports, local eats, and tasty brews.
Joining host band The Infamous Stringdusters – who will take the stage both Friday and Saturday nights – is an eclectic line up of roots musicians. Leftover Salmon, Trampled By Turtles, Nathan Moore, Keller & The Keels, Sons of Bill, and Tony Trischka Territory are just some of the bands that round out a mighty fine weekend of music.
This month’s Trail Mix features artists playing the Festy. Check out a ‘Duster double dip, along with two tracks from Richmond’s No BS! Brass Band. Also featured are Elephant Revival, Love Canon, Jon Stickley Trio, Jesse Harper, Floodwood – a side project featuring Al Schnier and Vinnie Amico of Moe. – Nicki Bluhm, The Steel Wheels, and a brand new track from Leftover Salmon.
There is good reason that The Festy has become of one of the coolest cultural events in the region. Head to Nelson County between October 5th and 7th for some great music, camping, mountain biking, running, beer, and much, much more. Take a listen to this month’s Trail Mix for just a glimpse of all the killer artists that will be on stage, and then surf over to www.thefesty.com for ticket, line up, and schedule information.
