Relax at Quenchers slope-side pub, offering sandwiches, snacks and a full-size bar. On most weekends we have live music.

If you’re up for a short drive, the Purple Fiddle is a must in the area. The family-friendly music venue has both a deli-style restaurant and bar, and every week touring acts from around the country and world to perform.

Q: What are your best runs and why?

Timber Trail is our mile-long easier trail that goes from the top of the mountain to the bottom, and is great for all levels.

Gravity, a black diamond trail, is a favorite due to its challenging vertical.

Q: Where do you recommend visitors to buy their gear?

Driftland Ski Shop, in Davis, WV, has the area’s lowest prices on Rossignol ski and board rentals. You can find everything from beginner to expert equipment. They will take care of you and ensure you have the right fit and tuning, no matter your skill level.

Ski Barn, in Canaan Valley, WV, offers the latest in shaped skis, snowboards, and skiboards, with basic packages and upgrade packages available for the whole family

Q: Any local beers / spirits in the area that our readers have to try?

There are three local micro-breweries nearby. Stumptown Ales, Mountain State Brewing Company, and Blackwater Brewery. Canaan Valley Resort offers selections from each brewery in our lounge and slopeside pub.

Q: What are the best off-the-slope activities that you offer?

Visitors can enjoy snow tubing at Canaan’s multi-lane tube park. At 1,200 feet long, it is the longest in the Mid-Atlantic! And with a magic carpet lift that whisks you back to the top, you don’t have to worry about getting tired out from anything but the fun!

You can ice skate under a covered pavilion near the main lodge, and warm up by the rink’s outdoor fireplace.

Q: Where do you suggest your visitors stay in the area? And if they want to buy in the area?

Visitors will enjoy their stay at Canaan Valley Resort. We offer a large variety of accommodation options including hotel rooms, fireplace suites, cabins, and cottages. For those that want to rough it, the campground is also available. There is a large selection of realtors in the area if interested in buying a home or condo.
