Haywood Waterways and the Lake Junaluska Conference & Retreat Center are hosting the “7th Annual Plunge Benefit-t-t-ting Kids in the Creek & Environmental Education” on “Super Bowl” Saturday, February 2, 2019. The Plunge will be at the Lake Junaluska Assembly beach (11 Memory Lane, Lake Junaluska, NC (by the pool)); registration begins at 10:00 am and festivities start at 11:30.
There will be great prizes for the top 3 Individual Fundraisers, School Team Fundraisers, Community Team Fundraisers, and Best Costumes. All Plungers will receive FREE swag to commemorate their courage. All Plungers and spectators get a FREE lunch and a chance to win one of many great door prizes.
The Plunge will benefit Haywood Waterways’ premier education event, Kids in the Creek, which teachers call “extremely valuable for teaching about water quality” and students call “cool”, though data shows it is a highly effective tool for increasing knowledge about water and bringing out environmentally-responsible behaviors in kids.
The depth of plunge is a personal choice – from a dip of the toe to a full immersion jump off the dock. All ages welcome. Shorts and shoes are mandatory, costumes are encouraged. The cost is $25 or FREE by raising sponsorships ($10 for under age 18). Register by “Joining the Team” on Crowdrise.com (www.crowdrise.com/7thannualhwaplunge), then “Donate” $25/$10 (all donations are tax deductible), or send your personal link to family, friends, and coworkers to sponsor your plunge and have a chance for one of the top fundraiser prizes.
Contact Haywood Waterways for a paper copy of the “Sponsorship, Donation, and Registration Packet” (828-476-4667, email@example.com).
Bonfires will be raging to help folks warm up as well as indoor changing and eating facilities. Since it is a winter Plunge, the event will happen rain or shine!
