Maggie Valley Festival Grounds
3374 Soco Road
Maggie Valley, NC

The festival celebrates the reintroduction of the Elk to the Great Smoky Mountains and will be a family-friendly event with a focus on conservation of the elk and the elk habitat. It will include activities such as educational hikes, elk tours, creekside demonstrations, kids’ activities, wildlife artists and crafts, cultural performances and plenty of great food and music. Cataloochee Valley is the birthplace of a reintroduced elk population, which roams free. Elk were once abundant, but the eastern herds were wiped out. The wild elk were reintroduced within the area in the 2000’s and have grown to a herd of more than 150.
