The Cumberland Trail (CT) is a scenic footpath along the eastern edge of Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau that begins on Signal Mountain in Chattanooga’s backyard. You can connect with this scenic trail, gain hands on experience to improve your hiking or backpacking skills, and learn about stewardship of Chattanooga’s local trails by participating in one of 12 different section hikes throughout 2018 organized and guided by Outdoor Chattanooga. This includes half-day hikes and fully equipped overnight backpacking adventures.
On these guided hikes, you’ll explore unique geological formations, seasonal flora and fauna, trek over creeks and suspended bridges to the tops of ridges with waterfalls and scenic overlooks all while fine tuning your hiking and backpacking skills. Participants will even earn credit toward the 50 miler award offered by the Cumberland Trail Conference.
The guided hiking series begins this Saturday, January 13 with the Soddy Creek Gorge section of the trail and concludes on December 1, 2018. Registration is required in advance as space is limited. Learn more and register here.
