Cass Days & The Parade of Steam (June 16-18)

The town of Cass is alive with festivities during the annual Cass Days on June 16-18. The weekend-long celebration features art, culture and history! The event starts on Friday evening with live mountain music and a cake walk. The weekend features a street fair, live music, the Cass Days dance and more. A highlight of Cass Days is the historic Parade of Steam on June 17. Presented by Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad, the Parade of Steam is a unique opportunity to get an up-close look at all of the legendary steam locomotives at Cass. Admission to the parade is free and staging will begin at the Cass Depot at 9:30 a.m., with the parade officially starting at 10 a.m. After the parade, the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad will run special excursions along the Greenbrier Line at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. 

The 25th Annual Little Levels Heritage Fair (June 23-25)

Join the celebration for The Little Levels Heritage Fair on June 23-25 in Hillsboro. The fair celebrates its silver anniversary with a special square dance this year! On Friday, get a tour of Pearl S. Buck’s birthplace and enjoy the fireman’s parade around Hillsboro. Saturday’s festivities include historic tours, arts, crafts and food vendors, a car show, kids activities, live music, the heritage parade and more. The fair ends on Sunday with a heritage walking tour and cemetery tours. 

Durbin Days Heritage Festival (July 12-15)

Check out the Durbin Days Heritage Festival on July 12-15. Start by attending the Durbin Days Heritage Festival Pageant, followed by a full day of live entertainment, delicious food and craft vendors on Main Street. Take part in various contests such as the greased pig contest, karaoke contest and corn hole. For the athletic types, challenge yourself to the 5K walk/run or get in on the Tug-of-War action. And don’t forget to catch the fireman’s parade on Friday evening and the Durbin Days Heritage Festival Grand Feature Parade on Saturday afternoon. 

Pioneer Days (July 13-15)

Don’t miss out on the excitement at Pioneer Days on July 13-15. This homecoming-style festival has been a beloved annual tradition since 1967, and is back with even more fun activities and events for the whole family. Experience the vibrant culture of Pocahontas County through live music, exhibits, arts and crafts, contests, parades, and delicious food vendors. 

During the festival, The Hammons Family Fiddle and Banjo Contest will be held at Discovery Junction in Marlinton. The contest features skilled musicians from across the region who compete for the state’s largest cash prize. The event also showcases the unique musical heritage of the area.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort Summer Events
