Sweetwater Brewing Company Taps Into Virginia and D.C.

Atlanta-based craft brewery, SweetWater Brewing, celebrates 17 years by bringing its beer lineup to new markets.

SweetWater’s lip-smackin’ lineup of ales are now available at bars, restaurants and specialty bottle stores throughout Virginia and D.C.  Starting off with their flagship, 420 Extra Pale Ale, and continuing to bring the rest of their notoriously hoppy ales to new areas through the spring.

Here are some of the beers to look for:

• 420 Extra Pale Ale – SweetWater’s 420 Extra Pale Ale is a West Coast style pale ale with big hops and a crisp finish. First brewed on April 20, 1997, this beer has developed quite the following in the Southeast. 420 is extremely well-balanced which makes it a perfect introduction to a new town…that’s why we say “drink ‘em if you got ‘em!”

• SweetWater Blue – SweetWater Blue is a unique, lighter-bodied wheat ale enhanced with blueberries. This brew will give folks a good whiff of a blueberry influence, with a subtle taste and an extra clean finish. This ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, and perfect for hanging on the coast on a warm Virginia day.

• SweetWater IPA – This mammoth India Pale Ale (IPA) is dry-hopped to the gills delivering a kick-you-in-the-teeth hop chop. The brew is unfiltered, as with all SweetWater brews, to leave all the natural flavors intact. SweetWater IPA won first place in a blind tasting against 15 of the best IPA’s in the country held by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

• SweetWater Tackle Box – The SweetWater Tackle Box variety pack is a hefty 12-pack collection featuring three of SweetWater’s favorite year round brews, along with a fourth catch and release seasonal specialty in each box.

And if great beer wasn’t enough, SweetWater Brewing Company is also passionate about protecting natural resources, waterways in particular, and is recognized as an environmental advocate and champion for clean water throughout the Southeast.  To make this a top priority, SweetWater teams up with roughly 30 local Waterkeeper Alliance members throughout the region to aid in their mission to protect and preserve some of the most threatened rivers and coastlines. With a goal to ensure that our natural resources will remain protected for generations to come, they have generated donations of more than $700,000. In addition, the brewery supports dozens of environmental and non-profit organizations and has made it clear that this commitment will be an integral mission for its expansion into neighboring markets and communities.

As they celebrate 17 years in the business, SweetWater will bring a new choice to the many great craft beers available in the Blue Ridge with an inspiring touch of environmental advocacy.  Cheers to good beer and clean water!
