Charlottesville and Albemarle County have gained worldwide attention for their historic attractions, outdoor activities, and award-winning wine, beer, and cider.

Now, it’s time to add to that list. The Charlottesville/Albemarle area has found itself in the center of the cycling spotlight – and for good reason. It was made for cycling!

It has now attracted the attention of the USA Cycling Team, who will use this area as their training grounds. The team will prepare physically and mentally for the UCI World Championships in September. But, the good news is you don’t have to be one of the top cyclists in the country to enjoy this locale too.

With gently rolling hills, picture-book mountain views, and vineyards dotting the landscape, every ride becomes an unforgettable getaway. And, you can decide the ride you can handle. There are routes capable of accommodating novice to world-class cyclists. The views are legendary, but the hills and valleys along the way will work you into top shape and can give an avid rider all they can handle.

Before you head out, swing by the newly opened Albemarle Tourism & Adventure Center, located in the historic Crozet Train Depot. You’ll discover all the information you need about the best cycling routes for your experience level.

And if cycling isn’t in your plans, the Adventure Center has unlimited other outdoor adventure ideas. Whether it’s hiking, kayaking, fly fishing or another unexpected excursion, they’ll help you plan a special trip.

Get out and explore all that Charlottesville and Albemarle County have to offer, and see why they say we are a place where tradition is always new.

Note: Every other Saturday of the month, the Albemarle Tourism & Adventure Center will also feature interesting and engaging outdoor and epicurean programs for all visitors. Please check for more information online or in person.
