Check out Mossy Creek’s Grand Reopening in Harrisonburg, Virginia!

There’s a big day planned this Saturday at Mossy Creek Fly Fishing‘s new Harrisonburg, Virginia shop to celebrate the opening of this awesome new location. If you attend, plan on staying a while to enjoy some local live music, speak with manufacturers from the world’s best fly fishing brands and to see some of 2018’s latest and greatest products. You’ll also get the chance to cast new rods and fly lines, watch and learn from local fly tyer’s, participate in the shop’s biggest fly fishing raffle ever, sample local beers, and chat it up with us at the Blue Ridge Outdoors tent.

To learn more about this one of a kind event we caught up with owner and operator of Mossy Creek Fly Fishing, Colby Trow.

BRO: What time should folks show up?

CT: The event starts at 9am!

BRO: How long does the event last?

CT: It will run until 5 pm when we close the shop.

BRO: What vendors will be present?

CT: We will have around 15 10′ x 10′ vendor tents showcasing product from the best manufacturer’s in the fly fishing world including Simms, Winston, Lamsen, Scientific Angler, Patagonia, Flymen Fishing Co. and more!

BRO: We hear there’s going to be live music. Who will be playing?

CT: Shenandoah Alley, a great local blue grass band, will be playing in the afternoon.

BRO: Tell us a little bit about your new location.

CT: Our new shop location is just a few blocks from downtown Harrisonburg. The house was a residence that was built in 1832 and is listed as a historic building with the historical society. We have restored the old hardwood floors, painted the plaster walls, and exposed many of the old ceilings and original floor joists. The exterior, besides and addition that was built, is in its original state. The shop is booked up into rooms like a wader and boot room, apparel room, fly tying room, pack and bag room, and main tackle room. Upstairs we have a storage and shipping room, classroom for our seminars, office, and kitchen. Outside we have enough space for rod casting and demos and events.

BRO: It wouldn’t be a fly fishing event without some locally brewed beer. Who’s supplying the suds?

CT: Three Notched Brewery will be on site with 4 beers on tap, one of which will be our tribute beer- Mossy Creek Brown Ale.
