Pierre Agnes, the CEO of of Boardriders Inc. – parent company of Quiksilver, DC Shoes, and Roxy—has been declared missing after a boat he was captaining off the France’s notoriously turbulent western coast washed ashore without him.

Agnes had been fishing yesterday morning in the area where his boat was discovered. According to French authorities, he had radioed in earlier that day with the news that thick fog would be delaying his return.

“The Boardriders family and entire surfing world are devastated by this news,” the brand said in a statement. “We are concentrating on working with the local authorities on the search and rescue effort and supporting Pierre’s family. Please keep Pierre and his family in your prayers.”
