Announcing The Winners Of The 2018 Adventure Critters Contest

For the past several years, we’ve held our annual Dog Photo Contest, featuring our canine companions and their outdoor endeavors. This has always been a popular contest, showing proud puppy parents scaling mountains, kayaking rapids, and hanging out in hammocks with fido, but something was missing. What about our scaly, feathery, and other furry family members who love to explore? So this year, we decided to mix it up a bit.  This is no longer a Dog Photo Contest, this is Adventure Critters.

Last month, we had critters of all types enter to win a prize pack from Blue Mountain Brewery, Elevation Outdoors, and Blue Ridge Outdoors. While the gift certificates and schwag may be nice, it’s all about the magazine and the calendar features. The bragging rights. Our winner will be featured in the magazine and the cover of the 2019 Adventure Critters Calendar. Our top twelve runner-ups will be featured in the 2019 Adventure Critters Calendar.

So, without further adieu, the winners of the 2018 Adventure Critters Contest…

Grand Prize Winner: Cramer

Cramer is my foster failure that has always been scared of people/dogs but I’ve been slowly getting him used to the outdoors and finally took him camping on Hawksbill Mtn NC. He LOVED it!

1st Runner Up: Dallas

Dallas enjoys hiking and adventuring just as much as his momma does. He’s always up for a new adventure.

2nd Runner Up: Biscuit

Biscuit is half Australian Shepard and half Shetland Sheepdog. Her eyes are multicolor—each eye is a swirl of brown & blue. She loves going on adventures with her family…hiking, paddling, etc.

3rd Runner Up: Missy

This adventure-seeking pup loves her momma and seeing all the things! They have had so much everywhere they go and have so many more sights to see

4th Runner Up: Meadow

Meadow is a 8-month-old Aussie Shepherd who was found on the side of the road in April with a broken back. She is a wheelie dog and nothing slows her down. She hikes, swims, and plays with others. Handicapable!

5th Runner Up: Amigo

Amigo loves to go for long walks and watch for little furry critters who might scurry by…

6th Runner Up: Whitney

Whitney is a 6 year old miniature pinscher who is playful, loving and full of energy. She enjoys being rambunctious with her furry friends at day camp, playing with her toys, long walks and cuddling!

7th Runner Up: Butters

The scruffy traveler! The rescue pup with a love for adventure. Butters is 11 years old & has visited 37/50 states on the road with her human!

8th Runner Up: Angus

Angus is a one-year-old African pygmy hedgehog. He enjoys long walks on the beach… ok, maybe not that long, but he is definitely the cutest land urchin we’ve ever seen!

9th Runner Up: Boba

This golden doodle is as fun, loving, and silly as any doodle. Her favorite activity is to play in water.

10th Runner Up: Daniel Boone

“Daniel” Boone lives up to his name as an adventurer and explorer. Look for Boone leading his human family on epic adventures on the AT and Blue Ridge Mountains.

11th Runner Up: Buffy

Buffy is a loving fur-child that enjoys hiking and fishing with her owners every chance she can get. When she is not outside you can find her underneath a bed snoring away.

12th Runner Up: Emmylou

Found with a broken leg, Emmylou didn’t let that stop her from becoming a brave adventure kitty. While her favorite activity is a nice woodland hike, you can also find her rafting and paddle boarding!

We will be contacting all winners via email regarding the next steps and your prizes.

Thanks to everyone who entered and a huge thanks to this year’s contest sponsor, Blue Mountain Brewery! We’re looking forward to seeing you and your critters next year.
