Seen a coal ad lately? The coal industry has spent over $40 million on advertising this year, including prime time advertisements during the presidential debates (which they helped sponsor). The ads attempt to ignore scientific facts in an effort to persuade Americans to support more coal mining, mountaintop removal, and coal-fired power plants–most of which will occur in Appalachia.

Fortunately, public health organizations are responding to the ads with scientific facts at the web site: coalisnottheanswer.org . The site cuts through the spin and lays down the facts on some of the most recent ads from the coal industry.
