Estatoe Reborn

North Carolina’s Pisgah Ranger District and the town of Brevard are partnering to build the Estatoe Trail near the Davidson River Recreation Area. This historic trail was once used as a trade route for Native Cherokees who traveled between the village of Estatoe and their smaller mountain settlements. The trail was one of the first routes to open up the steep and secluded Blue Ridge Mountains. Details about the recreation trail are still in the works, and the new Estatoe Trail will not be open to the public until all construction is complete.
