You’ve heard of Farm Aid, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, and John Mellencamp’s annual concert to benefit family farmers. Now meet Mountain Aid, a new weekend festival being held to fight mountaintop removal mining in the Southern Appalachians. The event will take place at the Shakori Hills Farm in Chatham County, N.C., on June 19-20 and feature performances by Kathy Mattea, Ben Sollee, and Donna the Buffalo. Get more info here

Look for an interview with Mattea in BRO’s July issue about the event and how other musicians are banding together to stop MTR.
