A new study has found a link between swimming in chlorinated outdoor pools and an increase in pediatric asthma. Chlorine vapors attack cell barriers that protect the lungs, which can cause the chronic breathing condition that affects more than 300 million people worldwide. It was previously believed that indoor pools were more risky, because vapors were trapped in enclosed spaces, but new findings by Belgian scientists reveal outdoor pools are just as dangerous.
