Breakaway Village, a planned community attached to the ski resort Wolf Ridge, is opening North Carolina’s first lift-assisted mountain bike park at the end of May. 26 West Mountain Bike Park will debut with one lift, seven trails, and a dedicated free-ride area. More trails are under construction for the end of the season and plans to expand the free-ride area are scheduled for 2009.
26 West will also host the North Carolina State Downhill Mountain Bike Championships.
