Shiloh Mielke of Weaverville, N.C., and Aaron Saft of Fletcher, N.C., placed fifth and eighth respectively at the USATF Mountain Running National Championships last week, and Asheville’s Amber Moran placed eighth in the women’s championship.  Another elite WNC runner, Jason Bryant of Elkin, N.C., placed 18th.

The seven-mile course consisted of two steep loops on a grassy ski slope in North Conway, New Hampshire. Runners climbed 2,400 feet in seven miles.

Mielke finished in 51:36, Saft in 52:16, and Bryant in 55:16. Amber Moran finished in 61:30.
