The final trials event for the 2008 whitewater slalom U.S. national team were held at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte the last weekend in April. The three-day event determined the 15-member team that will represent the U.S. in upcoming international competition. Charlotte resident Brett Heyl earned the top spot on the men’s kayak team and Zuzana Vanha, also from Charlotte, earned the number one spot for women.

The U.S. Olympic team will be finalized in July after the World Cup in Augsburg, Germany.
