Weekend Picks: RiverFest 2014, Wilmington, N.C., Oct. 3-5

Is there anything better than a beautiful day in a riverside town? Wilmington, North Carolina, certainly doesn’t think so! Come on out to the annual RiverFest from October 3-5 to benefit the Cape Fear River area.

Organized by the Old Wilmington Riverfront Celebration, the event aims to celebrate the role of the Cape Fear River in the city community and enjoy all the activities that the water has to offer. Runners can race in the Run the River 8K, which begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning. Or, hop onto a paddleboard for the Stand-Up Paddle Race on Saturday! The festival even features a Rowing Regatta, courtesy of the Cape Fear River Rowing Club and open to the public.

Besides all of these activities, RiverFest will also offer plenty of concessions, music, arts and crafts, car shows, wine tasting, and fun for the kids. View a summary of all the events and see how much there is to do, on or off the water.

CFCC DonationsRiverFest will take place in downtown Wilmington, and seeks to raise money for the city and for the Cape Fear Community College Marine Sciences Division.

The festival welcomes any and all attendees, and is also on the lookout for volunteers. Either way, don’t miss your chance to run, paddle, row, and enjoy the Cape Fear River in Wilmington, North Carolina!
