Weekend Picks: Asheville Color Run July 26

Want to take part in the “happiest run on the planet?” Of course you do. And color runs are all the rage, promoting charity, fitness and good times for all involved. Join thousands of “Color Runners” in the Asheville Color Run, an un-timed 5K race and get doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer leg. The Finish Festival party at the end of the race features even more color throwing along with a dance party. This is a great race to spectate or volunteer at and beginning runners are welcome.

According to the group’s website, the Color Run was founded in March 2011 “to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the community together for the ‘happiest run on the planet’.” They are the original paint race and have created a new genre of running events that are now the single largest event series in the country. They hosted more than 170 events in 30+ countries in 2013. Click here for more information.
