Fair Winds Brewing Company will be celebrating their third year anniversary on March 3, 2018. Within the first three years, Fair Winds has enjoyed great success and community acceptance. In this time the team has won national and state awards for the quality of the beer and has become a true member of the Lorton community with events that both promote and benefit the local citizens.
Within six months of opening the doors in 2015, the team brought home a Gold medal from the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. The hoppy Saison known as Siren’s Lure, placed first in the category of French and Belgian Style Saison. This was huge for the team and helped to attract new customers to the brewery and the beer. The following year, Fair Winds swept the board at the 2016 Virginia Beer Cup. One of their most popular beers, Hells Navigator, took home the Gold in the category of Best Munich Lager. The west coast style IPA, Howling Gale, was awarded the Silver Medal for American IPA. Lastly, Siren’s Lure was recognized in the category of Specialty and Experimental Beers, bringing home the Bronze medal. Fair Winds closed out its second year collecting a few more pieces of hardware at the 2017 Virginia Beer Cup, collecting both Silver and Bronze medals.
Fair Winds is extending the invite to all of those in the craft beer world to come out and help them celebrate three years of beer making! The party will be on Saturday, March 3rd 2018 at the taproom in Lorton, VA where the brewery resides. The doors will be open at Noon and will feature the annual release of the 2018 All Hands Barleywine with a very limited bottle release. There will be food trucks onsite, live music, raffles and more! The team has even set aside a few barrels of the previous years’ Barleywine to allow for vertical tastings!
So what’s new for the team in 2018, you ask? Fair Winds is going to be releasing several beers in cans across the year. For those of you who haven’t seen them on the shelf at your local grocer; Quayside Kolsch, Howling Gale IPA, and Siren’s Lure are available in six packs! In April 2018, Fair Winds will begin its seasonal rotation of six packs to start with the award winning Maibock Lager, Hells Navigator! Be sure to keep an eye out for the cans, as there will be very limited quantities of this tasty brew!
