Now Hiring! Make a Difference with SOAR

For over 40 years, SOAR has provided adventure-based programming for youth and young adults that are diagnosed with ADHD or Learning Disabilities (LDs). From our accredited summer camps for ages 8-25, to our accredited private boarding school for 7th-12th grades, and finally to our GAP year for ages 18-24, we help break the “traditional” mold so that participants can start to see their own amazing strengths and begin to thrive.

How does SOAR do this?

With the goal of success in mind, our outdoor adventure programs provide challenges that build self-esteem, self-assurance, and self-reliance. Our hands-on approach to learning utilizes a variety of activities such as backpacking, rock climbing, canoeing, and zip-lining to push participants beyond their comfort zone. This allows them to develop confidence and life skills with the support and encouragement from our highly trained staff. That’s where you come in!

SOAR is a team of hard workers, problem solvers, confidants, superheroes, coaches, dreamers, believers, and memory makers. We are looking to hire Adventure Camp Staff & Interns to lead campers as they are challenged in a variety of adventure activities and are pushed beyond their comfort zone with support and encouragement. These experiences empower the participant to make healthy choices, learn more about themselves, overcome challenges, and relate lessons learned from these experiences to other aspects of their lives.

Adventure Camp Staff & Interns supervise a group of 6-8 students (2 staff per group), on 10 – 18 day courses. They are able to demonstrate sound and safe decision-making when facilitating adventure-based expeditions, facilitate the development of life skills, organizational skills, self-esteem, problem-solving strategies, communication techniques, and social skills. They also act as a role model for students by demonstrating maturity, responsibility, good organizational skills, and professional behavior. Working at SOAR will allow you to grow and learn with the campers in ways that you never thought possible. The work is more challenging than most and the impact is extraordinary (except to nature, SOAR follows LNT principles). SOAR utilizes adventure programs and small staff-to-student ratios to encourage personal growth with our participants.

SOAR has locations in North Carolina, Wyoming, and Florida. These locations offer activities for our campers that are unique to their environment. Applicants are asked their preferred location depending on availability. SOAR will make every attempt to meet the requested location, however, staff may be moved during the summer based on need. Check out more specifics about our locations by clicking here.

Working at SOAR is one of the most unique, adventurous, challenging, and rewarding experiences that you will ever have. If you want to impact the lives of campers with ADHD or LDs, then SOAR is the place for you! Together we are a community striving to impact the world through the outdoors and a little understanding!
