Here’s another addition to the list of possible ecological calamities being forged by climate change—increased transmission of disease from animals to humans. According to a report released yesterday by the Wildlife Conservation Society, a “deadly dozen” diseases including avian flu, tuberculosis, yellow fever, cholera, ebola, parasites, plague, and lyme disease could spread with global warming. According to a story in Reuters, the organization said increasing temperatures and changing precipitation levels will alter the distributions of pathogens.
