Weekend Picks: Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival

The 14th annual Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival will take place this weekend in Waynesboro, Virginia, April 12-13.

This must-do event is held on the banks of the South River in Waynesboro – it is the largest outdoor fly fishing event in the Mid-Atlantic, featuring casting clinics, more than 40 exhibitors, gear demonstrations, a children’s fishing pond, and some of Virginia’s finest vintners on hand with tastings.

On hand will be Rebec Winery, Hunt’s Vineyards, Cardinal Point Winery, Barren Ridge Vineyards, Sans Soucy Vineyards, and Knights Gambit Vineyard. Bold Rock Cider, Starr Hill Brewery and SweetWater Brewing Company select beers will also be at the festival.

Jim Connor, of the John Denver’s Banjo Man group, was long time friend and member of John Denver’s band, He will be playing with his band on Saturday afternoon featuring a mean banjo.
