Travel in North Carolina is an amazing adventure, there’s no doubt about that. We have majestic mountains, rolling foothills and sandy beaches perfect any trip. And can we talk about the weather? North Carolina is wonderful in every season be it spring, summer, and even winter! But in our opinion, there’s nothing better than fall in the foothills of North Carolina. With vibrant color, a slight chill in the air and numerous activities, there’s no better time or place to visit.

A particularly picturesque location to explore is Lake Lure. Located in the western part of the state, Lake Lure sits in the heart of Hickory Nut Gorge, east of Asheville and is a well-known destination for thousands of visitors each year. For many, the highlight of the town is the lake from which it received its name. In almost all seasons, you can find locals and visitors riding its crisp waters and taking in the view of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains.

Vacation and lodging destination Rumbling Bald Resort has a remarkably captivating view of the lake from the North Shore. Away from the slow hustle of the town, the Resort is an escape from where residents and guests can enjoy its treasures. Sitting on the private white sand beach, you can enjoy a myriad of fall colors which surround the

Towering rock faced cliffs of Bald Mountain. Visitors to the 2,900 acre destination also have access to the lake by pontoon, kayak, pedal boat or SUP board where they can get an up close and personal view of its waters.

And what could be better than an autumn expedition through the mountains? Western North Carolina’s newest trail system, Buffalo Creek Park, has a trail head conveniently located on the property, where you can hike or mountain bike before returning to the Resort proper for a meal at one of three on-site restaurants or on the Lake Lure Dinner Cruise.

Rock climbing and bouldering enthusiasts also enjoy staying at the Resort before taking off on an adventure to Rumbling Bald climbing access in cooler weather. You can also play a round or two of golf on RBR’s two championship golf courses!

The best part about staying at Rumbling Bald are the abundant lodging options which fit any budget. You can choose from an attractive private home, a spacious condominium or a comfortable villa. And each property comes with its own unique qualities, whether a stunning mountain view or just a few steps to the golf course location. Be sure to check the specials calendar for seasonal packages.

Fall will be here before you know it, so consider a trip to Rumbling Bald Resort on Lake Lure!
