5 men who were trapped in a cave in Virginia have been rescued

On Sunday, a group of men stuck in Cyclops Cave in southwest Virginia were safely rescued. Six men, ages 22 to 59-years-old, entered the cave on Friday with the intention to camp. The men became trapped in the cave when heavy rains made it difficult for them to escape. The youngest of the group was eventually able to exit the cave, alerting authorities to his brother, father, uncle, and two friends that were still trapped in the cave. The five men rescued were all taken to the hospital for suffering from hypothermia and exhaustion.

Cyclops Cave is on private property and the group did not have permission to enter. The men were found about 120 feet deep in the cave and were not carrying proper climbing gear.
