Festival Recap: Roanoke Go Fest 2018

Go Fest in Roanoke Virginia is one of those festivals that checks all of the boxes. There is quite literally, something for everyone. Go Fest is an annual event in downtown Roanoke that promotes healthy, outside recreation by combining things that outdoor enthusiasts love. With nearly 125 outdoor activities spread throughout the two and a half day festival, it’s easy to see why Go Fest has become one of the premier outdoor events to attend in Virginia’s Blue Ridge. You can watch a BMX stunt show, learn to fly fish, demo high-end mountain bikes on Mill Mountain, test your balance on a slack line, try out some new rock climbing shoes, drink some delicious local craft beer and watch some incredible music. That just scratches the surface! There are lumberjack competitions, races, a bike toss, a tiny-bike race and so so so much more. We only wish we had an event this fun when we were kids. Go Fest feels like a gathering of the outdoor tribe. We talked to lovers of the outdoors who traveled from as far away as Boston to see what Roanoke and Go Fest has to offer. What makes Go Fest so special is the way it can covert even the most staunch indoors-man. You don’t have to be athletic to love the outdoors and of the things it has to offer.

Fall finally decided to show its face here in the Blue Ridge. The cooler weather was a welcome change for us. It was our first chance to put on some hoodies and get comfy with a warm drink from Sweet Donkey Coffee. As always it was a great opportunity for us to catch up with old friends. The best part of the outdoor community is just that – the community. Huge shout-out to all of our friends that we got to connect with this weekend. You make this job better than it already is. We’ll spend the final full week of our tour in and around Roanoke. We are attending the 2018 Outdoor Blogger Summit before heading off to Bridge Day in Fayetteville, West Virginia. If you see the van, make sure to give us a wave!

There is one way for this tour to be a reality, our sponsors!
