April kicks off our summer Food Truck Series, where at least once a week, food trucks gather in one of our parks – complete with children’s activities, live entertainment and a variety of fresh, local food.

Strawberry Season

If it’s May in Chesapeake, it’s strawberry season – and our farmers’ markets are abuzz with activity. The heart and soul of our local flavor, our working farms offer fresh, locally prepared foods and artisanal creations – from fresh honey, to fresh produce and baked goods. Paddle for the Border – May 4, 2019

Hundreds of kayakers and canoeists from across the East Coast launch

Dismal Swamp Stomp Running Festival – April 6, 2019

Runners get a chance to trek through what is surely one of the nation’s most unique half marathons, 5K, and the Children’s Half-Mile Cub Run. Runners compete at the annual springtime running of the Dismal Swamp Stomp Half Marathon. Participants run on a route along the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail that winds through the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Click here for more information.
