Bush’s Tank Running on Empty

The Bush Administration is abandoning efforts to raise the fuel economy standards of automobiles. The Department of Transportation began the process of increasing Corporate Fuel Economy Standards last year with the goal of raising the average car’s mpg by the end of the Bush Administration’s reign. However, citing the economic crisis and the auto industry turmoil, the DOT has decided to leave the regulation decisions for the Obama Administration.
