Daryl Hannah is the latest in a string of recent celebrities to speak out against the atrocities of mountaintop removal mining. According to an AP story, the actress was arrested today in Boone County, W.Va., during a protest with NASA scientist James Hansen, 94-year-old congressman Ken Hechler, and 27 others near Marsh Fork Elementary School. The school sits just below a towering coal processing plant .
Hannah joins the likes of actress Ashley Judd and pop singer Sheryl Crow in recently voicing opposition to the devastating mining practice that continues to ravage Appalachia.
