Steele This Cliff

The Southeastern Climbers Coalition (SCC) has just purchased a 25.59 acre tract that includes a portion of the cliffline at Steele, Alabama for $55k. This area has been closed to climbers since 1987 due to private land owner access issues.

The Steele cliffline is located 7 miles from Horsepens and 45 minutes from Birmingham. The 25.59 ac. tract has 1,400 linear feet of cliffline and includes several cliff areas and it is estimated to have 30 to 50 routes.

The SCC plans to slowly acquire more tracts of the cliff (one mile long in total) over the next few years and re-unite the whole cliffline.

The SCC has procured access to several similar climbing areas throughout the Southeast. The organization is actively seeking donations to help pay the mortgage on the Steele tract.
