The Shenandoah Room offers a warm place to hang out and enjoy a snack, a warm cup of cocoa and a cozy fireplace while the kiddos hit the slopes. Bryce Resort has one of the best ski schools around. Whether you’re sending your little ones off for their first ski lesson, or taking one yourself, you can rest assured the acclaimed Horst Locher Snowsports School with their PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) certified instructors will provide a safe and positive learning experience, to help people of all ages build new skills, improve their technique, and most importantly, to just have fun out on the slopes.

One of the unique adventures offered by Rev3Endurance at Bryce Resort are snowshoeing tours. Perfect for groups of up to 15  looking for a great winter adventure, these tours include snowshoes, trekking poles and a guided tour on the slopes after hours, plus a post-adventure drink voucher for Copper Kettle Restaurant and Bar located at the base of the slopes (hot cocoa or an adult beverage). Outside of the resort there are many great hikes along North Mountain to take in the beautiful scenery. Big Schloss and Tibbett Knob are two of the most popular. If you decide to stay at one of the Winter Cottages at Shrine Mont just a short drive outside of Bryce Resort in the village of Orkney Springs, you’ll find a few other good trails.

When you’re not hiking the brisk mountains or flying down the slopes there are plenty of great places to gather with your group. Cave Ridge Vineyard and Winery has brought back their popular igloos! Available only by reservation via their website, each igloo is heated and can accommodate up to 8 people. Guests also receive a complimentary mug to take home, and the first round of mulled wine is included! It’s the perfect way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, bachelorette/ bachelor party, or even a proposal. Cave Ridge also has a large sitting room with great views and a fireplace to enjoy their wine and charcuterie platters.

For a rustic and casual atmosphere try Swover Creek Farm Brewery set on a century farm where many of the ingredients used in brewing and in their home made wood fired pizzas are grown and raised on the farm. A family friendly environment, Swover Creek prides itself on having plenty of activities like game nights and trivia nights in the winter months.

However you like to enjoy the season, whether it’s snuggling up by a cozy fire in the peaceful valley, racing down the mountain on skis or hiking in the crisp mountain air, Shenandoah County is the perfect place for a group to get together and enjoy the winter months.
