The federal government might be closed for business, but they can’t stop us from drinking delicious brews and enjoying the beauty of Virginia’s largest state park. The 2nd Annual Hops & Harvest Festival will take place this Saturday, October 5th at Pocahontas State Park, which is just a few miles southeast of Richmond. Gates open at noon with music starting around 1:00 pm. The day will be a celebration of all that Virginia has to offer – from the local artists and food vendors to the gorgeous setting in the park. There will be something for everyone of all ages.
Tickets are $16.50 in advance (you can still buy them online) and $20.00 at the door. Keep in mind that beer tastings are not included in the price, but the venue does take all major credit cards. Craft breweries such as Legend, Hardywood, Starr Hill, Bold Rock, and Devil’s Backbone will all be in attendance. There will also be live music throughout the day starting at 1:00 pm and going until 10:00 pm. There are a few local acts leading up to the two main headliners, Donna and the Buffalo and Blues Traveler.
Pocahontas Live is a program put on by a non-profit called Virginia Museum of Radio Entertainment. Their goal is to feature roots-based American music and to create public awareness of Central Virginia’s rich musical history. All of their events rely heavily on a volunteer presence.
